Hah! For reference, he was attempting to name Tsvetana Pironkova. I think what he actually said is the Bulgarian for “my hovercraft is full of eels.”

  2. James says :

Thank God it was at the end – he really wanted to get out of that one!

  3. Andrew says :

    Poor Gilesy.

  4. Jack says :

Gilesy is a professional he will bounce back. As one of the finest bulletin readers of the 21st century, he will be back stronger and more fluent than ever. Don’t let those bulgarians get you down chris!

  5. Calum says :

I agree with Jack….Chris is a great newsreader who unlike some newsreaders brings passion and love to our news bulletins at the top of most hours. I would like to send my sorrows to chris but know he will learn from his mistakes and prepare harder for next year’s Wimbledon. Keep going Gilesy and we love you. Follow chris on twitter…… @mrchrisgiles x

  6. Colin (Chris's Dad) says :

Chris has come a long way from hospital radio as a schoolboy then BBC Somerset Sound and other local radio stations. At least he did not swear when it went wrong as he has done on air in the past!

  7. Colin (Chris's Dad) says :

Colin again. I notice the clock on this website is running in “ALFA” time. Is it foreign?

  8. Robin Baker says :

    Tsve-TAH-nah Pir-ON-kovah, love her!
